The terms below cover what Cohortly is, what it isn't, and the agreement that exists when you run a report or buy a Premium tier.
Cohortly is a benchmarking instrument. It scores a structured applicant profile against the empirical distributions of accepted-cohort data and returns a composite, percentile, and a short list of strengths and weaknesses. It is not an admissions oracle, an acceptance prediction, or a substitute for professional counseling.
You may run analyses for yourself or, with their consent, for an applicant you advise. You may not scrape, redistribute, or repackage the model output as a competing service. You may not submit content you do not have the right to submit.
Reports are licensed to you for personal review and counselor sharing. The Premium PDF includes an advisor share link intended for that purpose.
We publish error bars on each scored feature and flag low-confidence reads explicitly. The composite is a measurement, not a verdict. Admissions outcomes are determined by committees and contain irreducible randomness — Cohortly cannot, and does not, predict acceptance.
You are responsible for activity under your account. Authentication is provided by Clerk; report compromised credentials to the contact address and we will reset access.
Cohortly is provided as a research and self-assessment tool. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid for the affected report. We are not liable for admissions outcomes, opportunity cost, or decisions made on the basis of a report.
You can delete your account at any time from the dashboard or by emailing the contact address. We may suspend accounts engaged in scraping, abusive intake submissions, or attempts to reverse-engineer the model. Refunds for terminated accounts follow §03.
These terms are governed by the laws of the operator's jurisdiction. Disputes are resolved by binding arbitration where permitted; the small-claims exception is preserved.
